The Getup

The Getup have come along way since their birth in 2004. Originally starting as an instrumental Hammond Organ quartet they gained critical acclaim for their debut release, Getup & Groove (2007) a follow-up album Life @ Cafe Eric (2008) saw them going back in to the studio to hammer out more hard funk with a true British edge.

With fans including Craig Charles (Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show, BBC Radio 6) Snowboy (Legendry Producer, Percussionist and DJ) and a wealth of club and festival goers across the UK and Europe. Live dates in major venues include sold out shows at the Jazz Cafe (Camden), the legendary 100 Club (Oxford Street) The Band On The Wall (Manchester) The Bussey Building (London) and St Paul Soul Jazz Festival (France).

The Getup's unique sound can be attributed not only to their influences Booker T, Charles Earland, Tower of Power, Eddie Russ and many of those rare Funk 45's from the 60s and 70s but also their love of British Funk and Acid Jazz from the 90s.

The current incarnation of The Getup features not only the original quartet, but also a smoking horn section and some amazing guest vocalists such as Linda Muriel, Sabina Challenger and Aina Roxx.

With years of touring and studio experience under their belts members of The Getup have worked with many other artists as side men, these including James Taylor Quartet, Reuben Wilson, Pama International, The Killer Meters, Sir Joe Quarterman, Gizelle Smith, and Secret Affair.

The band's dedication to an authentic, raw funk sound, favouring a REAL Hammond Organ, analogue recording equipment, sweltering vocals and hip horn arrangements, make for a sound that'll have you screaming for more.
